Cooking with InterBase on iOS

Being an avid cook and baker and longtime user of recipe apps on my iPhone and iPad, I wanted to create my own Recipes app. Over the next couple of blog posts I am going to cover the functionality of my recipes app and go through some of the steps needed to create this app.

As you can see in the screenshots below, I am using the TTabControl component with 4 main tabs and native iOS styling. The tabs consist of ‘Home’ which lists the last 3 recipes I have viewed or added, ‘Recipes’ which lists all recipes in the database, ‘Add’ which allows you to enter a new recipe and ‘Favorites’ which lists any recipes the user has tagged as their favorite. The entire app is powered by an InterBase database on iOS.

Visual LiveBindings is also heavily leveraged in my application, and as you can see from this screenshot, I am using LiveBindings actions to post my changes back to my InterBase database on my device.

As you can see from the last screenshot, I am also using interactive gestures on iOS in this app, but will talk more about this in a future blog post.

Stay tuned for more information to come soon.

Also, right now you can take advantage of the iOS Preview "Early Bird" Special, and save 20% on Delphi Enterprise, RAD Studio Professional/Enterprise with Maintenance. Offer ends March 31st, 2013.

Regards,

Sarina
